A neo-Nazi group has placed stickers with swastikas on them across signs in a regional Australian city as part of a ‘recruitment drive’.
The Nazi symbols were stuck in public places, including on a banner advertising a popular culture festival, close to the TAFE Queensland campus in Toowoomba, 130km west of .
A passer-by informed the that they had noticed the stickers and quickly removed them, before contacting the Toowoomba Regional Council.

Council’s environment and community spokesman Cr Joe Ramia described the vandalism as ‘completely unacceptable’.
‘Unfortunately this is not the first time we have seen vandalism of this nature but it’s pleasing to hear of the local residents who removed the stickers as this reinforces how much our community is opposed to racism throughout the region,’ he said.
This is the second time that the political organisation, known as Antipodean Resistance, have struck in the Queensland city.

The group were first active in Toowoomba back in September 2017 when, in a bid for new recruits, members put up posters with the slogan ‘Nazi youth organising in your area’.
St Mary’s College, Queens Park and the TAFE campus were among the areas targeted. The group’s website address was also clearly stated on the posters.
Toowoomba is not the only area that Antipodean Resistance have targeted in recent times. Back in May, neo-Nazi posters appeared in a Synagogue in Adelaide. Flyers were also found littered around university campuses in the city.
Antipodean Resistance describes itself as ‘the Hitler’s you’ve been waiting for’ and first emerged in Melbourne in 2016.
The group only accepts heterosexual white members and likens itself to Hitler Youth. Their ideology opposes homosexuality and has described Jewish people as ‘social parasites’.
